Mechanical oil pumps supply oil in a dedicated circuit inside internal combustion engines which ensures the necessary lubrication and cooling. While the pump is working, high dynamic interactions could arise inside its core and generate wear on the component's surface. This can lead to a continuously increasing lack in performance. Bosch VHIT developed and validated simulation tools to evaluate the wear process of a vane pump with variable displacement, making it possible to design the oil pump using data on wear and lifetime and reducing validation costs. …
