Zusammenfassung

In diesem Beitrag wenden wir uns den digitalen multinationalen Unternehmen (MNEs) zu. Wir stellen dar, was digitale MNEs ausmacht, welche Besonderheiten sie aufweisen. Wir gehen auf die Geschäftsmodelle dieser Unternehmen ein, erklären die Wirkung zunehmender Skalenerträge, führen Plattformen ein, zeigen was Netzwerkeffekte ausmachen, und diskutieren, warum hier die erfolgreichen Unternehmen oft den gesamten Markt beherrschen (winner takes it all). Wir diskutieren außerdem, ob diese Unternehmen eher als Helden oder als Bösewichte eingeschätzt werden können.
