Abstract

This study delves into the dielectric and microwave absorption properties of sunflower and marigold biomass, comparing their performance with traditional materials. Key focus areas include the microstructural analysis using FESEM, elemental composition through EDS, and functional group identification via FTIR. The research also examines the dielectric properties and microwave absorption behavior of these biomasses across various frequency bands, particularly in the K-band. Notably, the study finds that both sunflower and marigold biomasses exhibit strong potential as eco-friendly and cost-effective alternatives for microwave absorption applications, with sunflower showing a reflection loss of -18.80 dB at 13.01 GHz for a 6 mm thickness and an effective absorption bandwidth of 11.45 GHz at 7 mm thickness, while marigold demonstrates a reflection loss of -15.98 dB at 22.72 GHz for a 3 mm thickness and an effective absorption bandwidth of 7.57 GHz at 5 mm thickness. These findings suggest that these biomasses could be viable solutions for high-performance microwave applications, offering sustainable and biodegradable alternatives to conventional materials.
