Abstract

The article introduces a novel approach to synthesizing spherical polymer brushes by leveraging difunctional ligands, integrating both 'grafting to' and 'grafting from' techniques. This method enables precise control over grafting density and surface activity, making it a promising solution for industrial applications. The research highlights the potential of difunctional ligands as co-emulsifiers and polymeric shell-generating ligands, facilitating the simultaneous growth of polymer chains and core formation. The resulting polymer brushes exhibit exceptional interfacial activity, even at low concentrations, opening new avenues for catalysis, nanoparticle assembly, and medical applications.
