Abstract

This chapter presents a digital modeling approach for the stability analysis of synchronous motor drives, specifically focusing on Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) drives. It begins with a literature review highlighting the advantages of PMSMs over other motor types. The methodology involves developing a mathematical model in the continuous domain, converting it into a discrete domain using the z-Transform method, and performing stability analysis through pole-zero mapping and Jury's test. The chapter also explores the impact of parameter perturbations on system stability and concludes with a detailed analysis of impulse response in both continuous and discrete domains. The research provides valuable insights into the steady-state stability assessment of synchronous motor drives, making it a crucial read for professionals in the field.
