Abstract

The chapter delves into the innovative use of robotic fabrication for stone sculpting, focusing on the Digital Stone Project. It presents six case studies that explore minimal surface geometries, interlocking joinery systems, non-standard tool paths, and integrated scanning to milling. These projects demonstrate how advanced computational tools and robotic technologies are revolutionizing traditional sculpting techniques, bridging the gap between digital design and physical realization. The case studies include explorations of complex geometries, innovative fabrication methods, and the integration of human craftsmanship with robotic precision. The chapter also discusses the challenges and future directions in this emerging field, offering insights into the potential of robotic fabrication in both art and architecture.
