Abstract

The article delves into the analysis of generalized eccentricity in shell structures, focusing on the principal directions of eccentricity. It introduces the concept of relaxed funicularity and modulus eccentricity, offering a comprehensive evaluation of shell structures' performance. The study aims to support architects and engineers in designing lighter structures and understanding the behavior of shells under various loads. The paper is organized into sections that summarize basic concepts, address the characterization of principal eccentricity directions, propose the concept of modulus eccentricity, and demonstrate numerical solutions. The work concludes with a comparative analysis of optimized and non-optimized shell structures, highlighting the significance of principal eccentricity directions in structural design.
