Abstract

The article delves into the critical issue of dispersive soil identification and modification in the Huaaopao Water Conservancy Project. It begins by highlighting the global significance of dispersive soil in causing erosion problems in earth dams and embankments. The authors review various methods for identifying dispersive soil, including empirical models and specialized tests like the pinhole test and crumb test. The study then presents a comprehensive procedure for assessing the dispersivity of soil samples from the Huaaopao project, analyzing their physicochemical properties and mineral compositions. Notably, the article advises on the appropriate dosage of lime to mitigate soil dispersivity, offering practical insights for preventing erosion disasters in water conservancy and geotechnical engineering projects.
