Abstract

The article introduces a novel distributed neuro-fuzzy routing model called EADNFR, designed to enhance energy efficiency in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) for IoT smart city applications. Traditional clustering and routing approaches face limitations in energy management and communication overhead. The proposed EADNFR model leverages federated learning and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems (ANFIS) to predict sensor nodes' energy states and optimize routing decisions. This approach reduces energy consumption, extends network lifetime, and improves overall performance compared to existing methods. The article also discusses the simulation results demonstrating the superiority of EADNFR in terms of network life, residual energy, and packet delivery ratio. The study highlights the potential of federated learning and distributed intelligence in addressing the energy challenges of IoT smart city applications, making it a valuable read for professionals in the field of IoT and WSNs.
