Abstract

The rapid increase in energy consumption, predominantly from fossil fuels, has led to environmental concerns such as global warming and air pollution. This article investigates the impact of environmental technologies, urbanization, trade openness, and income on energy consumption and intensity in Turkey. Using annual data from 1980 to 2020 and advanced econometric methods like Fourier ARDL and Toda-Yamamoto causality tests, the study aims to provide valuable insights into energy policies and sustainability goals. The findings highlight the importance of environmental technologies in reducing energy consumption and intensity, and the causal relationships between these variables. The study contributes to the literature by offering a comprehensive analysis of Turkey's energy landscape and suggests policy recommendations for achieving sustainability targets.
