Abstract

The rapid evolution of digital communications has revolutionized service delivery, with mobile banking emerging as a pivotal advancement in the financial sector. This chapter explores the multifaceted impact of perceived risk on mobile banking behavior, highlighting how security, privacy, and trust issues can impede widespread acceptance. It delves into the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model, integrating perceived risk to scrutinize user acceptance behavior. The study investigates whether perceived risk moderates the impact of performance and effort expectancy on behavioral intentions, focusing on the millennial generation in Indonesia's rural areas. Through a quantitative analytical approach, the research reveals that performance and effort expectancy directly influence behavioral intention and usage behavior, underscoring the importance of user-friendly and beneficial mobile banking features. The findings challenge conventional views on the moderating role of perceived risk, suggesting that consumers may prioritize convenience and benefits over risk perceptions. This chapter offers valuable insights into enhancing mobile banking adoption and usage, emphasizing the need for intuitive and efficient mobile banking applications.
