Abstract

The article presents a sophisticated method for detecting misogynistic tweets in Spanish using a BERT model with domain-adaptive pre-training. The research addresses the pressing issue of violence against women (VAW) by leveraging advanced natural language processing techniques. The authors highlight the significance of social media in perpetuating VAW and the need for effective tools to detect and address online misogyny. The proposed model outperforms state-of-the-art methods in accuracy and recall, demonstrating the potential of domain-adaptive pre-training in enhancing the performance of language models for social media content analysis. The article also discusses the challenges of bias in training datasets and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in creating more effective models for detecting online misogyny.
