The article delves into the innovative use of disc stack separators and downstream filter elements to significantly reduce oil mist emissions from internal combustion engines. These technologies are crucial for meeting upcoming emission regulations, such as the Euro 7 standard, by minimizing residual oil in blow-by gas. The article highlights the advantages of both passive and active crankcase ventilation systems, with a particular focus on the superior performance of active systems driven by disc stack separators. It also discusses the importance of closed crankcase ventilation systems in recirculating clean gas and preventing oil deposits that can impair engine efficiency. The patent-pending combination of disc stack separators and filter elements is shown to achieve extremely high separation rates, reducing oil discharge to virtually zero. This innovative solution is applicable to a wide range of combustion engines, including those powered by e-fuels and hydrogen, and can be retrofitted to existing systems.
