Abstract

This chapter introduces the Dynamic Placement Strategy (DPS), a novel algorithm designed to optimize job placement in tree-topology networks. The focus is on addressing the challenges of network congestion and communication efficiency in distributed computing environments, particularly in large-scale model training scenarios. The DPS algorithm is presented as a solution to the limitations of existing job placement strategies, offering a dynamic programming-based approach to balance subtree congestion and parent link constraints. The chapter also discusses the implementation and evaluation of DPS, demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing network congestion and improving system performance.
