Abstract

The article delves into the intricate mechanisms of granular top coal drawing in longwall top coal caving (LTCC), emphasizing the crucial role of hydraulic support structure parameters. It begins by highlighting the evolution of LTCC technology in China and the significance of low-level drawing support in enhancing worker safety and coal production. The study employs particle flow code (PFC 2D) simulations to analyze the effects of the dip angle of the shield beam (α), the length ratio of the shield beam to the tail beam (R L), and the rotation angle of the tail beam (β) on the top coal drawing mechanisms. Key findings include the optimal thresholds for these parameters, which can significantly improve top coal recovery. The research also sheds light on the development characteristics of the drawing body and top coal boundary, as well as the arching characteristics of top coal, providing a comprehensive understanding of the drawing process. The article concludes with practical recommendations for support selection and design, aiming to optimize top coal recovery in LTCC panels.
