Driver Analysis to Solve Dynamic Facility Layout Problems: A Literature Review

Abstract

The chapter delves into the dynamic facility layout problem (DFLP), a critical issue in today's competitive manufacturing environment. It explores various solution methodologies, highlighting the prevalence of metaheuristic approaches such as Simulated Annealing, Genetic Algorithms, and Particle Swarm Optimization. The study also evaluates performance assessment techniques, categorizing them into statistical comparison, quantitative comparison, and no comparison groups. Notably, it identifies a gap in the literature regarding the methodologies used to compose hybrid algorithms, encouraging future research to address this deficiency. The systematic review, conducted using Barbara Kitchenham’s methodology, provides a robust foundation for researchers seeking to develop effective DFLP solutions.
