Abstract

This chapter explores the development and implementation of a dual-axis solar tracker using Arduino and Light Dependent Resistors (LDRs) to optimize solar panel efficiency. The system employs a microcontroller-based design with PID control to adjust the panel's position in both azimuth and elevation, ensuring maximum sunlight exposure throughout the day. The study compares the performance of the dual-axis tracker with fixed-tilt and single-axis systems, highlighting significant improvements in energy output, particularly in challenging conditions. The tracker's design, including its components like servo motors and LDRs, is detailed, along with simulation studies and real-world testing results. The conclusion underscores the tracker's potential to enhance solar energy utilization, making it a valuable asset for residential and off-grid solar systems.
