Abstract

The chapter delves into the dynamic analysis of a building equipped with a Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) subjected to artificial seismic excitations. It discusses the installation of vibration control mechanisms in structures to enhance safety and comfort, with a focus on the TMD's operating principle and advantages. The methodology involves solving equations of motion, considering uncertainties in structural parameters and seismic excitations. The study uses Monte Carlo Simulation and Latin Hypercube Sampling to analyze the effectiveness of the TMD in reducing maximum interstory drift. Results show a significant reduction in drift values, highlighting the TMD's effectiveness in mitigating seismic effects. The chapter concludes by emphasizing the TMD's role in enhancing structural safety and reliability in critical seismic situations.
