Abstract

The chapter delves into the dynamic analysis of transversal responses in a simply supported beam subjected to a moving mass. It begins by introducing the concept of time-varying loads on structures and the importance of dynamic analysis for ensuring structural safety. The study presents a case of a simply supported beam with a moving mass, exploring the transversal responses for different velocities using finite element analysis and optimization methods. The results highlight the impact of varying speeds and damping rates on structural deflection, with a particular focus on the velocity that causes maximum deflection. The analysis also compares numerical solutions with analytical methods, demonstrating the reliability of the proposed algorithm. The chapter concludes by discussing the observed dynamic amplification factors and the influence of the moving mass on the structural response.
