Dynamic and Adaptive Broadcast Encryption for VANETs Supporting Inclusive-Exclusive Properties

This chapter delves into the intricacies of Dynamic and Adaptive Broadcast Encryption (DBE) tailored for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs), focusing on secure, real-time group communication. The text explores the system model of VANETs, highlighting the decentralized and self-organizing nature of these networks, and the various types of communication such as Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I). It introduces a dynamic broadcast encryption model that supports efficient addition and removal of vehicles, ensuring scalability and adaptability. The chapter also reviews existing broadcast encryption schemes, discussing their strengths and limitations in the context of VANETs. A significant contribution of this work is the introduction of a multi-channel broadcast encryption scheme with inclusive-exclusive properties, which optimizes computational complexity and enhances security. The scheme's adaptive security is formally proven under the Modified Decisional Bilinear Diffie-Hellman Exponent (mDBDHE) problem, ensuring robust protection against various attacks. The chapter concludes with a comparison of the proposed scheme with existing ones, emphasizing its advantages in terms of computational efficiency, security, and dynamic group management.
