Abstract

This chapter delves into the critical aspects of dynamic wind analysis for high-rise buildings, focusing on the comparison between static and dynamic wind forces. The study highlights the importance of considering dynamic effects for structures exceeding 30 meters in height, particularly in terrain category IV. It explores the influence of various wind load codes, including IS 875 (Part 3):2015, ASCE-7-98, and EUROCODE 1-4, on the design of tall buildings. The research examines the impact of different terrain categories on wind pressure and the behavior of buildings with varying shapes and structural systems. The analysis reveals that dynamic wind forces are significantly higher than static forces, emphasizing the necessity of dynamic analysis for safer and more efficient high-rise building designs. The study also provides valuable insights into the gust factor method and its application in determining wind loads. By comparing the results obtained from Excel and software analysis, the chapter underscores the importance of advanced computational tools in wind load analysis. The findings offer practical recommendations for engineers and architects involved in high-rise building projects, ensuring enhanced safety and structural integrity.
