Abstract

The chapter delves into the dynamics of digital content contribution, monetary incentives, and social interaction, focusing on live streaming platforms. It challenges traditional labor supply theories by examining the impact of content contribution on providers' social and monetary gains. Through a panel vector autoregression (PVAR) model, the study reveals that working hard does not significantly impact broadcasters' monetary earnings but positively affects their social earnings. The findings also show that the effect of working hard varies among broadcasters with different earning powers. This comprehensive analysis offers valuable insights into the complex relationships between effort, rewards, and social interactions in the digital age.
