Abstract

This article delves into the effective management of rice stem rot, a significant fungal disease caused by Sclerotium oryzae, which can lead to substantial yield losses. The study focuses on the use of talc-based formulations of Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas fluorescens as eco-friendly alternatives to chemical fungicides. Through extensive in vitro and field experiments, the article evaluates the antagonistic activity of these bacterial strains against the pathogen, demonstrating their potential to suppress disease and promote plant growth. Key findings include the superior performance of B. subtilis strains Bs-17 and Bs-41, as well as the synergistic effects of microbial consortia. The article also explores the benefits of talc as a carrier material, enhancing the longevity and efficacy of the bioformulations. Additionally, the study compares the results with chemical treatments, highlighting the environmental and economic advantages of biological control agents. The conclusion emphasizes the need for further multilocation trials to validate the efficacy and feasibility of these formulations before large-scale application.
