Abstract

The article discusses the significant environmental issue of oil spills and their impact on ecosystems and economies. It introduces the concept of using rice husk ash, a by-product of agricultural waste, as an adsorbent to remove petroleum hydrocarbons from aqueous media. The study focuses on the development of polyurethane composites loaded with rice husk ash, characterizing their morphology, thermal stability, and sorption capacity. The composites showed enhanced sorption capacity for diesel oil, demonstrating the potential of this eco-friendly material for effective oil spill remediation. The research also highlights the importance of sustainable practices in waste management, contributing to a circular economy.
