Abstract

The chapter investigates the impact of biochar from waste wood on the strength and porosity of cementitious mortar. It discusses the environmental advantages of biochar, such as carbon sequestration and reduced carbon dioxide emissions, and its potential to replace ordinary Portland cement. The study also addresses the conflicting views on biochar's role in cementitious composites and the challenges posed by its porosity. Through comprehensive testing and analysis, the chapter aims to determine the optimal amount of biochar for use in cementitious mortar, contributing to the development of more sustainable construction materials.
