Abstract

This chapter delves into the critical role of filling velocity uncertainty in additive manufacturing, focusing on its impact on tensile strength, surface roughness, and build time. Through experimental datasets and probabilistic analysis, the study reveals that surface roughness is the most sensitive to variations in filling velocity, while tensile strength remains relatively stable. The research employs the Monte Carlo method to quantify uncertainty propagation, providing a robust framework for understanding and mitigating the effects of process variations. Key findings include the stabilization of standard deviations for tensile strength, surface roughness, and build time, offering valuable insights for optimizing 3D printing processes. The study concludes by highlighting the importance of uncertainty modeling in enhancing process reliability and minimizing defect risks, particularly in high-stakes industries such as aerospace, automotive, and medical device manufacturing.
