Abstract

This chapter delves into the intricate relationship between the geometry of permanent magnets and the efficiency of low-frequency rotational energy harvesting using Halbach arrays. Halbach arrays, known for their ability to concentrate magnetic fields unilaterally, are scrutinized through two comparative groups. The first group maintains a constant volume of different magnet shapes, while the second group fixes the rotor volume to study the magnetic field distribution and energy capture effects. The chapter meticulously calculates the magnetic field intensity distribution, providing a deep understanding of how different magnet shapes influence the magnetic flux and power generation efficiency. Through simulations and experiments, it is revealed that sector-shaped permanent magnets exhibit the best magnetic field distribution and energy capture effect, outperforming trapezoidal and cubic magnets. The practical implications of these findings are significant, as they demonstrate the potential to enhance the energy-harvesting capabilities of Halbach arrays, making them more efficient and compact. The chapter concludes with a thorough analysis of the experimental results, highlighting the superior performance of sector-shaped magnets and their potential for real-world applications.
