Abstract

The article investigates the impact of high dV/dt on voltage stress across inductor turns, a critical issue in medium and high voltage power electronics applications. It delves into the parasitic capacitances that cause non-uniform voltage distribution and increased stress, highlighting the need for innovative solutions. The study proposes the use of additive manufacturing to optimize inductor winding geometry, thereby achieving a more uniform voltage distribution. The paper presents a comprehensive case study, including simulations and experimental results, to validate the effectiveness of this approach. It concludes with the potential of advanced 3D printing techniques to further enhance the design and reliability of inductors in high-voltage environments.
