Abstract

This study delves into the effects of Nd-YAG laser exposure on the structural and optoelectrical properties of PVA/copper ferrite nanocomposites. The research focuses on four key areas: the impact of laser irradiance on crystallite size and interlayer spacing, the changes in optical properties such as absorbance and band gap, the alterations in refractive index and extinction coefficient, and the variations in dielectric properties. The findings reveal that laser exposure significantly enhances the optical absorbance of the nanocomposites, particularly in the UV and visible regions, leading to a reduction in both direct and indirect band gap energies. This enhancement is attributed to the creation of defect levels and the formation of strong hydrogen bonds. Additionally, the study observes an increase in the refractive index and extinction coefficient, confirming the formation of defect levels and the breaking of chemical bonds. The dielectric properties of the nanocomposites are also improved, with a notable rise in the dielectric constant and dielectric loss. These modifications suggest that laser-treated PVA/copper ferrite nanocomposites hold great promise for applications in optoelectronics, UV sensing, and biosensing technologies. The research concludes that the tunability introduced by laser irradiation makes these nanocomposites highly responsive and efficient, paving the way for advanced and multifunctional sensing technologies.
