Abstract

The study explores the impact of Mn on the microstructure and high-temperature properties of Mg-Y-Al alloys, aiming to enhance their creep resistance and mechanical performance. By incorporating Mn, the alloy exhibits a significant reduction in grain size and an increase in the density of precipitated phases, leading to improved elevated-temperature properties. The research also reveals that Mn addition introduces thermally stable secondary phases, such as α-Mn particles, which play a crucial role in immobilizing dislocations and enhancing creep resistance. The findings highlight the potential of Mg-Y-Al-Mn alloys for high-temperature applications, showcasing their superior creep resistance and mechanical properties at elevated temperatures.
