Abstract

This study delves into the effects of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) fractionation on the stiffness behavior of Cold Asphalt Mixes (CAM), focusing on tensile strength, Indirect Tensile Stiffness Modulus (ITSM), and Resilient Modulus (RM) at different temperatures. The research highlights how fine, coarse, and unfractionated RAP fractions influence the mechanical properties of CAM, with coarse and unfractionated mixes showing better performance due to reduced aging and improved rejuvenation. The study also explores the temperature dependency of ITSM, revealing that stiffness decreases with increasing temperature. Notably, the research finds that coarse fractionation enhances tensile strength and stiffness characteristics, making it a recommended choice for CAM. The conclusions drawn from this study provide practical insights for optimizing the use of RAP in cold asphalt mixes, aiming to improve durability and performance in road construction and maintenance.
