Abstract

The study focuses on the synthesis and characterization of poly(xylitol sebacate) (PXS) polymers via melt polymerization at varying reaction times. It examines the impact of reaction time on the physical and thermal properties of PXS, as well as its potential for nanoparticle formation and drug encapsulation. The research highlights the influence of reaction time on polymer branching, solubility, and degradation rates, and demonstrates the successful synthesis of PXS nanoparticles for controlled drug release. The study also includes a detailed analysis of the nanoparticles' properties, including size, zeta potential, and encapsulation efficiency, and discusses the drug release mechanism using the Korsmeyer-Peppas model. The findings suggest that PXS polymers hold promise for medical applications, particularly in drug delivery, and provide valuable insights into optimizing their properties for specific uses.
