Abstract

The article delves into the effect of solution heat treatment on the corrosion behavior of Ce-containing S31254 super austenitic stainless steel. It examines how different heat treatment temperatures and durations influence the dissolution of second phases, particularly the σ-phase, and the resulting microstructural changes. The study also explores the impact of Ce addition on the refinement of inclusions and dendrite structures, as well as the corrosion resistance of the steel. Through dynamic potential polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests, the article provides a detailed analysis of the corrosion behavior of the steel under various conditions. The findings reveal that the addition of Ce can significantly enhance the corrosion resistance of the steel by refining the microstructure and promoting the dissolution of second phases. The optimal heat treatment conditions for achieving the best corrosion resistance are also identified. The article concludes that the addition of Ce and appropriate solution heat treatment can greatly improve the corrosion resistance of S31254 stainless steel, making it more suitable for applications in harsh environments such as seawater treatment systems and chemical treatment plants.
