Abstract

The study focuses on the impact of spacing between double pool fires on flame emissivity and temperature, crucial factors in fire behavior and safety. Unlike single pool fires, multiple pool fires are more destructive and harder to control, as exemplified by the 2009 IOC terminal incident. The research fills a knowledge gap by measuring flame emissivity in double pool fires, using infrared cameras and thermocouples. Results show that flame emissivity and temperature vary significantly with the distance between pools, with important implications for firefighting strategies and safety distances. The findings are particularly relevant for understanding and mitigating fire hazards in industrial settings.
