Abstract

This study delves into the effects of zinc-containing dust on the thermal behavior and kinetics of coal-dust briquettes during the co-coking process, with a focus on the reduction mechanisms of zinc ferrite and iron oxides. The research explores the interaction between zinc-containing dust and weakly caking coal, addressing key challenges such as the efficient removal of harmful elements and the reaction mechanisms involved in the co-carbonization process. Through a combination of experimental data and theoretical analysis, the study provides a detailed understanding of the pyrolysis process, including the thermodynamics and kinetics of the reactions. The structural evolution of the briquettes is also examined, with insights into the formation of ferro-coke and the role of zinc-containing dust in this process. The study concludes that the addition of zinc-containing dust significantly influences the pyrolysis behavior of the coal-dust briquettes, with implications for the production of high-quality ferro-coke and the potential for utilizing metallurgical solid wastes and non-mainstream coking coals.
