Abstract

The article explores the impact of Zn on the structure and mechanical properties of Mg-Ca foams, revealing significant improvements in pore uniformity, compressibility, and energy absorption efficiency. The study demonstrates that Zn addition reduces the brittleness of Mg-Ca alloys by eliminating the brittle Mg2Ca phase and enhancing fluidity during foaming. This results in foams with higher expansion, better pore circularity, and improved mechanical strength. The research also highlights the role of Zn in reducing MgO content and agglomerate size, leading to more stable pore walls and enhanced foam performance. These findings have important implications for the development of high-performance, lightweight structural materials in various industries.
