Abstract

The article investigates the influence of Zr content on the microstructure, texture, and mechanical properties of friction stir-welded aluminum alloy joints. It highlights the role of Zr in grain refinement and the formation of Al3Zr particles, which improve the thermal stability and mechanical properties of the welded joints. The study also examines the textural evolution in different regions of the joint and the resulting impact on the material's anisotropy and strength. Experimental results demonstrate that the addition of Zr enhances the hardness and tensile strength of the nugget zone, while also improving the toughness of the joints. The findings provide valuable insights into the optimization of friction stir welding processes for aluminum alloys.
