Abstract

The chapter delves into the effects of adding geotextiles to pavement structures, focusing on their impact on mechanical behavior and estimated remaining service life. It compares two rehabilitation techniques—full-depth reclamation (FDR) and milling with geotextile addition—using Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) measurements on two boulevards in Montreal. The study analyzes FWD deflection basin parameters to assess the condition of different pavement layers and calculates the remaining service life using the Rhode’s relationships. The findings indicate that the geotextile technique does not significantly improve the mechanical condition or service life of the pavement structure, suggesting that current estimation methods may not be suitable for structures incorporating geotextiles. The chapter highlights the need for further research to validate these results and potentially develop more accurate estimation methods.
