Abstract

As culture affects creativity, researchers have analyzed the influence of culture on design creativity. However, their studies only concluded its positive or negative effects on creativity. Providing solutions after identifying problems is important, such as mitigating the adverse impact or magnifying the positive impact. Targeting the solutions, we developed a visualized framework based on the 4Ps model of creativity and Hofstede’s culture theory to explain the relationship between culture and creativity. Then, we identified the influence of culture on design creativity and discussed the literature related to culture priming. Finally, we summarized the possible solutions to influence culture by adopting digital technologies for design creativity enhancement. Our study may inspire researchers to start a discussion on how to provide solutions for enhancing creativity by adopting digital technologies from a cultural perspective.
