Abstract

The study focuses on optimizing the hydrolysis and bleaching processes for efficient extraction of cellulose microfibrils from coffee parchment, a by-product of the coffee industry. Utilizing a design of experiments approach, the authors investigate the impact of chemical precursor concentrations and reaction times on the extraction efficiency. The research also delves into the structural and morphological properties of the extracted cellulose microfibrils, highlighting their potential applications in various industries. The novel findings of this study offer valuable insights into the sustainable utilization of coffee parchment as a renewable resource for cellulose production.
