Abstract

The article investigates the impact of protein-based biopolymers, particularly sodium caseinate, on the geotechnical properties of salt-affected sandy soil. It addresses the environmental concerns associated with traditional soil stabilizers like cement and explores the potential of biopolymers as eco-friendly alternatives. The study includes extensive laboratory experiments to evaluate the effects of sodium caseinate on the unconfined compressive strength, permeability, and wind erosion resistance of salt-affected soil. The results demonstrate that sodium caseinate can significantly enhance the soil's strength and stability, making it a promising candidate for sustainable soil stabilization. The article also discusses the interactions between sodium caseinate and salt-affected soil, providing insights into the mechanisms behind the improved geotechnical properties. Overall, the research highlights the potential of biopolymers in addressing the challenges posed by salt-affected soils in a more environmentally friendly manner.
