Abstract

This chapter delves into the critical issue of smoke control in ultra-wide immersed tube tunnels, highlighting the significant impact of exhaust port layout on fire safety. Through detailed numerical simulations, the research compares the effectiveness of different configurations, such as single-row, double-row, and triple-row exhaust ports, both unilaterally and bilaterally positioned relative to the fire source. Key metrics like smoke thickness, vault maximum temperature, and safety height temperature are analyzed, revealing that multi-row exhaust port setups can significantly enhance smoke control performance. The study also emphasizes the importance of reducing the distance between exhaust ports to maintain high smoke extraction efficiency, providing valuable recommendations for designing efficient smoke control systems in such tunnels.
