Abstract

This study delves into the effects of left foot positioning on emergency braking performance in young drivers. By manipulating the left knee joint angle, researchers examined how this factor influences reaction time, muscle activity, and plantar pressure during sudden stops. The findings reveal that, contrary to expectations, altering the left foot's ground contact position did not significantly impact the speed or strength of pedal depression. However, the study highlights the importance of posture stability in preventing operational errors. The research also suggests that age and gender may play crucial roles in how left foot positioning affects driving performance. This study provides valuable insights into the biomechanics of driving and offers a foundation for further research into the optimal driving postures for different age groups and genders.
