The variety of future types of powertrains, as they result from the electrification of the drivetrain, increases the application effort in pre-development projects for transmissions. However, in order to develop and validate new concepts effectively and at an early stage, a generic automatic application method was developed at Daimler AG's transmission pre-development department. The article shows how rapid prototyping software development creates a powerful method that, among other things, enables the rapid commissioning of newly developed functional software for controlling real systems without taking hardware-specific implementation into account. ...
