The Peugeot E-Legend Concept is an electrically powered, highly automated coupé. The design is closely based on the Peugeot 504 Coupé from the 1960s.

Peugeot has equipped the E-Legend with a clear design, large glass surfaces and relatively compact dimensions. The concept car measures 4.65 metres in length, 1.93 metres in width and 1.37 metres in height and has a wheelbase of 2.69 metres. It is intended to project the advantages of the Peugeot 504 Coupé into the future. "A modern, sharper Coupé, this ultra-technological archetype of automotive pleasure finds its deep strength in the DNA of the Peugeot 504 Coupé. Peugeot E-Legend Concept projects us in the near future without any nostalgia," says Gilles Vidal, Style Director at Peugeot.

An electric drive with an output of 340 kW (462 hp) and maximum torque of 800 newton metres generates sporty performance. The all-wheel drive car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than four seconds and hits a top speed of 220 km/h, according to Peugeot. A 100-kWh battery should permit a range of 600 kilometres according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure.

Luxurious and digitally equipped interior

The interior blends 60s retro elements such as dark wood and turquoise-coloured quilted velvet seats with digital displays and a retractable steering wheel. Looking over the angular steering wheel, the driver has a view of the Responsive i-Cockpit, an enhanced version of the i-Cockpit. Peugeot has included a total of 16 screens in the interior. The curved screen on the centre console measures 49 inches, and there is a 29-inch screen on each door. Even the sun visors have 12-inch screens. Voice control with AI was developed together with the audio and speech recognition company Soundhound.

The Peugeot E-Legend Coupé offers four driving modes, two of which are highly automated. The Soft mode is designed for comfort, while the Sharp mode is more suited for dynamic driving. These modes correspond to the manual Legend and Boost settings, respectively. Depending on the driving mode, the displays change, the armrests extend automatically or the seats can be adjusted. "This is the vision of a brand, Peugeot, actively focused on an optimistic and ultra-desirable future. For Peugeot, autonomous and electric are synonymous with even stronger sensations. Boredom will never be part of our DNA," says Peugeot's CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato. The Peugeot E-Legend Concept will debut at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
