Opel has added an electric drive to a classic car. The Opel Manta GSe ElektroMod sports the new Opel Pixel Vizor on the front, features a digital cockpit and is powered by an electric motor.

Opel has modernized a 1970s Manta: The neon yellow Opel Manta GSe ElektroMod has lost its chrome bumpers and now dons the new Opel Pixel-Vizor. The “e” in GSe signifies electrification instead of fuel injection now. The Black Panel at the front integrates LED headlights and allows the unique specimen to communicate via an LED screen. The four round lights at the rear also use LED technology. The electric Manta stands on 17" Ronal aluminum wheels.

The classic’s interior has been given a modernized cockpit. The Pure Panel behind the revised Petri three-spoke steering wheel features two integrated, driver-oriented widescreens measuring 12" and 10" instead of round instruments and buttons. The new sports seats originally come from the Opel Adam S.

Opel Manta ElektroMod with four-speed manual transmission

Instead of the original four-cylinder gasoline engine, an electric motor with 108 kW (147 PS) of power now sits under the hood. The maximum torque of 255 Nm is sent to the rear wheels. In terms of power transmission, the driver has the choice of using the original four-speed manual gearbox or simply engaging fourth gear and driving automatically. The lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 31 kWh and provides a range of around 200 km. It is charged via a 9 kW on-board charger for single-phase and three-phase alternating current.
