Chinese car manufacturer BYD is bringing its premium brand Denza to Europe. The new flagship model, the Denza Z9 GT, is set to hit the market in 2025.

At the Brera Design Week in Milan, the Chinese BYD Group announced the entry of its new premium brand Denza into the European market. The first model will be the Denza Z9 GT, which in its battery-electric version is 5,180 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,500 mm high. The hybrid version measures 5,195 mm in length, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. The "Grand Tourer" was designed by Design Director Wolfgang Egger and features a variation of BYD's design language with flowing lines. The front features double, elongated LED daytime running lights; radar sensors, the active air intake and parking sensors have been integrated into the radiator grille area. The large, wide lights extend almost to the center of the rear.

The interior is finished in leather and wood. The 2.1 m2 panoramic glass roof has a sunshade. The front seats are equipped with 12-way electric adjustment and active side bolsters, and there is a 10-point massage function as well as seat ventilation and heating in the front and rear. In addition to the digital cockpit, the central 17.3-inch screen is complemented by an additional ultra-wide 13.2-inch screen for the front passenger. The Devialet sound system has 20 speakers with moving speaker technology.

Denza Z9 GT Available as BEV and PHEV

The e3 platform enables both a battery-electric and a hybrid version of the Denza Z9 GT. The BEV model combines a 230 kW (170 hp) front motor with two 240 kW (177 hp) rear motors. This enables the Denza Z9 GT to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds. The PHEV is not much slower at 3.6 seconds. The DMi offers a 200 kW (272 hp) 2.0-liter gasoline engine at the front and two 220 kW (299 hp) electric motors at the rear. Both models are based on a cell-to-body structure that integrates a blade LFP battery. In the BEV, it offers a capacity of 100 kWh and is said to provide a range of around 630 km according to CLTC. The PHEV has an electric range of around 200 km with 38.5 kWh.

The electric motors at the rear act as a rear dual-motor steering system, enabling the rear wheels to be steered independently of each other and of the front axle. The system increases maneuverability and improves stability when cornering, changing lanes, and braking. With a possible angle of 10° at the rear, the turning circle is reduced to 4.62 m. A so-called "crab steering" function and 360° rotation are also possible. The brakes, DiSus-A air suspension, and steering are controlled by the "Vehicle Motion Control" system. Further information on the Z9 GT is to follow, with the new model expected to hit the market at the end of 2025.
