Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its new EQA model. The e-SUV is technically related to the GLA compact SUV and forms the brand's entry-level electric model.

The new Mercedes-Benz EQA weighs just over two tons and is 4,463 millimeters long, 1,834 mm wide and 1,620 mm high. A more streamlined design of the front and rear aprons, an adjustable radiator shutter or the complete underbody panelling improve the aerodynamics of the E-SUV. Mercedes-EQ puts the trunk capacity of the five-seat SUV at 340 to 1,320 liters.

The asynchronous machine (ASM) in the EQA 250 model produces 140 kW (190 hp), and maximum torque is 375 Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels. The EQA accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, and the speed is limited at 160 km/h. The range is around 426 kilometers according to WLTP. Models with all-wheel drive and an additional electric powertrain (eATS) and over 200 kW of power will also be available.

EQA with heat pump as standard

The e-SUV's recuperation power is either automatically controlled by Eco-Assist or can be adjusted via shift paddles behind the steering wheel. The 66.5-kWh battery sits in a frame made of extruded profiles, and the EQA's thermal management system uses a heat pump as standard. The standard comfort suspension with steel springs consists of a MacPherson design in the front and four-link suspension in the rear. Adaptive adjustable damping is also available as an option.

The cockpit includes either two seven-inch displays or the widescreen version with two 10.25-inch displays. The MBUX infotainment system is on board as standard. The navigation with Electric Intelligence calculates the fastest route in the EQA, taking into account, for example, a necessary charging stop, and also navigates to a charging station. Mercedes me Charge gives customers access to charging stations from various providers with an integrated payment function and simple billing.

In the area of driver assistance systems, Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Brake Assist are standard. The Distronic active cruise control system and active steering assist, evasive steering assist, lane departure warning and blind spot assist are also available at extra cost.
