The Concept CLA Class from Mercedes-Benz presented at the IAA Mobility 2023 shows a further developed design language of "sensual purity". Already visible on the Shark Nose front is the light motif of the Mercedes star in the logo and headlights. This is echoed in the panel that replaces the radiator grille, as well as in the taillights or the illuminated star at the rear. The light bands extend across the front and rear wheel arches. The lighting concept enables a range of animated lighting scenarios.
The sedan offers four bucket seats upholstered in sustainably produced nappa leather. The interior also uses a paper material made from recycled cellulose and hemp. The MBUX superscreen extends across the entire width of the cockpit and features mini-LED technology and immersive 3-D graphics. The software basis is provided by the new "MB.OS" operating system.
CLA Family Continues to Grow
The Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) is focused on electric vehicles. It is intended to reduce CO2 emissions in the value chain across the entire MMA fleet by more than 40 % compared to the previous architecture. The steel and aluminum used are to be produced with low CO2 emissions. The drive system, consisting of electric motor, transmission and power electronics, was derived from the Vision EQXX system. A new heat pump is also used. The range is said to be more than 750 km according to WLTP with an energy consumption of 12 kWh/100 km. In addition to high efficiency, the 800 V architecture is said to enable fast charging of up to 400 km in 15 min. In addition to the four-door "coupe" shown, the new CLA-Class will also include a Shooting Brake and two SUVs.
