Abstract

The article delves into the development of a POP-toughened semi-conductive shielding layer for PP cables, addressing the environmental concerns associated with traditional XLPE cables. It examines the effects of varying POP content on the distribution of conductive carbon black, surface roughness, and electrical properties, such as volume resistivity and charge injection. The study also includes a detailed analysis of the mechanical properties, highlighting the trade-off between tensile strength and elongation at break. The findings suggest that the POP-60 shielding layer exhibits excellent electrical and mechanical properties, making it a promising candidate for environmentally friendly high-voltage cables. The research combines experimental data with finite element simulations to provide a holistic understanding of the material's performance, offering valuable insights for further development in the field.
